“MOMMY!”

Noah was out of his chair before anyone else could move.

He threw his small body across hers, shaking her shoulders with his little hands, his face already streaming with tears.

“Get up,” he sobbed. “Mommy, get up, please get up!”

And then he screamed the words that froze the blood of every adult in that room.
